Diamond Bank Plc has pledged to
provide more financial assistance to women entrepreneurs to enable them to
contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth.
The bank’s Acting Head, Regional
Businesses, North Directorate, Mr. Sufiyanu Garba, said this during the maiden
edition of a Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises workshop held in Abuja and
tagged ‘Going from Good to Great’.
He said the bank was committed to
the MSMEs empowerment drive, adding that the seminar was designed to broaden
the business acumen of entrepreneurs.
Garba noted that women were very
important for the development of the economy, adding that “at Diamond Bank, we
are very supportive of women and this initiative is one of such ways to show
this support.”
According to him, the aim of the
workshop is to support women who are in business.
He said, “The bank hopes to
inculcate that business idea into women; this is the reason we chose the theme
of the workshop as ‘Good to Great’. We have had success stories from women who
started virtually from nothing, who are today talking of turnover running into
hundreds of millions of naira.
“We have also brought some of
them here to share their success stories and challenges with women who are into
the MSMEs, and intending ones.
“Diamond Bank is a retail bank
with strong support for the MSMEs. Our
customers are very important to us. This
seminar is part of what we do to encourage them in business. If they have good
business and bankable ideas, they can come to us, we look at it and if it is
okay, we give them loan for such business.”
